About Rainbow Sanctuary

“This sanctuary was born from both heartbreak and hope.”

Just-As-You-Are Rainbow Sanctuary is a queer-led, multi-faith ministry of action based in Emporia, Kansas.
We exist to provide safety, connection, and spiritual affirmation for LGBTQ+ people—especially those who have been harmed by religion, rejected by family, or marginalized by society.

This isn’t church in the traditional sense.
We don’t require belief in a specific god, follow a rigid doctrine, or ask you to check any part of yourself at the door.
Instead, we gather around a shared truth:
Queer people are sacred, beloved, and worthy of joy.

💜 Why We Exist

In Western society, LGBTQ+ people are among the most targeted—by politics, by violence, and by religious condemnation.
Many of us have survived deep wounds caused by churches, families, and systems that claimed to love us but could not accept who we are.

We created Rainbow Sanctuary to offer something radically different:
A space rooted in love, justice, mutual care, and spiritual healing.

We are here to:

  • Reclaim what it means to be holy

  • Create a safe third space for queer people of all identities

  • Provide support and connection without judgment

  • Offer practical help: food, clothing, mental health resources

  • Build a future where gender-affirming care is protected as a matter of sacred conscience

🌿 Who We Serve

  • Rainbow Sanctuary welcomes:

    • LGBTQ+ youth and adults

    • People of all faiths—or none

    • Those recovering from religious trauma

    • Allies who come with humility and open hearts

    • Everyone seeking a community built on radical love

You do not need to believe in God, follow a specific tradition, or agree with anyone else here to belong.
If you are seeking refuge, healing, laughter, or quiet companionship—you are welcome.
